Are short sales a good investment? Most short sale listings are discounted, even if not that great. A discount in today's market is a win/win. With current market values down SO LOW you can't go wrong with a short sale as you just increase your discount. Where buyers do need to be careful is the time frame. If you are looking to get a deal you have to be willing to wait for it. You should expect a 30-120 wait for the deal to be negotiated. In some cases you may have less of a wait if the seller's agent or company negotiating has submitted a previous offer that was declined. Usually they have a better idea of what the bank will allow and also may have a contact or mitigator assigned that they can send the offer to directly. Be sure you ask where they are in the process. If they have not submitted previous offers that doesn't mean that you should back off, just prepare yourself for a little longer of a wait.
